God’s Creation Outside My Window
It’s August in Florida. As I write this it’s 95 degrees outside. Tonight’s low will be 77. There is an abundance of frogs, toads and lizards in my yard. This is the time of year that I start to realize I really haven’t been outside since May except for getting in and out of the car. I typically start to venture out again some time in September. Fall fun ideas begin to appear on Pinterest but I know we won’t see a big change until November or so. Fall in Florida for me means orange t-shirts and pumpkin lattes…iced.
My oldest has started her first grown up job. My son has started college. I’m seeing improvements in my younger daughter’s school work. Things really do work together for my good…if I would just stop worrying about them!
In the Schoolroom
Our books have finally started to arrive (after the post office lost a box). This year we are using Winter Promise as our core curriculum. I think it’s going to be a great fit for my daughter as it addresses multiple learning styles and we’re looking forward to starting next week.
From the Kitchen
I’ve been pretty lazy.
I’ve done a Leslie Sansone DVD three days this week. This morning I pushed it to 3 miles (despite my plantar fasciitis, but it seems to be okay.) Yoga three times so far. Went to a yoga class at the gym that turned my formerly beloved hot yoga class into a power yoga class…in 95 degree heat. Not for me. I like my yoga real slow…
On My Nightstand
Helping a Child with Non Verbal Learning Disorder or Asperger’s Disorder (because the fun and learning never stop around here!)
Currently none. I’ve dropped a few hints to The Cuban that it’s been a few months since we’ve done anything fun (his July hip replacement notwithstanding).
Plans for the Coming Week
Again, the fun never ends. Back to the podiatrist for another cortisone shot in my foot. Back to the physical medicine doctor for quarterly Xeomin injections to treat my dystonia. I usually try to lay low a few days after shots but our homeschool co-op starts the day after as does our women’s Bible study that Friday.
