My name is Marya and I’m a recovered alcoholic…living drug and alcohol free since 1986. It’s a little hard for me to write that. I’ve been very quiet about it for a long time.
I partied hard for about 8 years – not a long time compared to others – but I did a lot of damage that I still pay the price for decades later.
I’m also a special needs mom who lives with two major chronic illnesses – cervical dystonia and ulcerative colitis. And even with that second diagnosis, I still struggle with an eating disorder.
I also live with anxiety and depression. Sharing my truth through writing is a way for me to give it away since I can’t get to a lot of meetings. On my blog you’ll find hope and inspiration for self care, which is an essential part of living with mental health issues and recovering from addiction.
I’m in the process of curating helpful mental health and recovery resources for my blog visitors. So grab some coffee and join me!
Remember, you’re not alone. <3
I never had proper counseling to help me move past the narcissistic abuse I lived with for most of my life. Southlake Christian Counseling has been an invaluable resource in helping me process what’s happening. Even if all you can do is follow them on Facebook, you’ll find it so helpful!
Tom Seaman shares my diagnosis of cervical dystonia. No matter what you’re living with, his wisdom and compassion are a gift. His book Diagnosis Dystonia has helped many people navigate the complexities of this very difficult diagnosis.
What can I say about these ladies? They’re authentic, awesome & have inspired me to start blogging more openly about my recovery and feel a little less alone.
Juggling the Jenkins – seriously one of the funniest women ever. I needed her in my life about 20 years ago but wait..there was no YouTube then!
