Welcome to my little online space. As a special needs mom with chronic illness (read my dystonia story here) I’ve learned a lot about juggling spoons (see The Spoon Theory) since my diagnosis in 2010. On these pages you can find hope and encouragement for a healthier mind, body and spirit.
A little more about me…our family has a lot of challenges on our plate but I am determined to live life to the fullest and find joy in each day no matter what my pain levels might be. Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy blogging and social media, my dogs, great food and yoga. I’ve been living alcohol free since 1986 and work everyday to overcome depression and anxiety as well as disordered eating issues. I believe that faith and natural health are key to living victoriously with the challenges in my life.
My mission for this blog is twofold – to share my faith, experience, strength and hope with people who have been impacted by chronic illness and disability in any form. I learned in twelve step recovery rooms that we can only keep what we have by giving it away.
As the mom of children with multiple diagnoses including CHD, Down Syndrome, Neurofibromatosis and learning disabilities, I also occasionally use this space to advocate for those whom society considers “the least of these” the developmentally disabled.
We love dogs and ours are a big part of our life. We currently have three…Bridget the Cairn terrier (16), Luna the Bullmastiff (10), and Lily the Jack Russell (1). I know…it’s quite a motley crew. Daddy is a retired Police K9 trainer and groomer so he’s always on hand with helpful advice when we need it!
If you’d like to join me on my journey of faith, recovery and natural wellness, I’d love to have your company!
